Amed… Eastern shore of Bali
From Ubud we traveled north and east to the coastal town of Amed. The coral reef is just a few meter swim from the black pebble beach shore. Our hotel room looked over the beach and we couldn’t help catch a few photos of the early morning light. Our friend Nengah’s home village of Amed was having a pre-new year cleansing ceremony called Melasti (spelled incorrectly in slideshow) that he was participating in and invited Julie and I to tag-a-long and observe. Wow! What a wonderful experience. Although a very serious ritual, like everything, the Balinese approach everything with a light heart and a smile. The next day we took a boat ride to go snorkeling at a Japanese ship wreck teaming with colorful life of fish and coral. I wish we had an underwater camera and at least the USB cord to download the boat picks from our small point and shoot camera…oops. Enjoy!
Truely awesome!! Can I go next time?
